The Process 1. Review the school's mission statement, philosophy statement and basic beliefs. These statements clarify who we are and what we are about. 2. Complete the Application for Admission. We want to know who you and your child(ren) are, where you attend church, and why you want your child at Lafayette Christian School. 3. Read and sign the Partnership Agreement. This is your agreement to partner with Lafayette Christian School in the academic and spiritual growth of your child. 4. Complete the top part of the Pastors Letter of Recommendation (PDF) (the section found in the box) and then ask your pastor to complete the remaining sections. Your pastor should return the recommendation directly to the school. 5. If your child is a transfer student, we request his or her teacher to complete the Teachers Report Form (PDF). We will also need copies of the most recent report card. 6. Attach a $50 application fee and return the forms to the school office. Family Interview Once all these forms have been completed, the principal will review the Application Form, Partnership Agreement, Pastor’s Recommendation, and Teacher’s Report Form (including child’s report card). He will arrange for an interview at school, with the parents and their eligible children. One or two Board members and faculty members will be present at this interview. The interview will address especially these issues: That there is a credible profession of faith in Jesus Christ and that there is agreement with the "Statement of Belief" on the part of at least one parent of the applicant. That there is regular participation in church worship. That there is an understanding of, and agreement with, the purpose and philosophy of Lafayette Christian School. There should be evidence of the potential success of the child in the academic program. There should be evidence of the child’s good social, emotional, and behavioral adjustment. The parents need to understand their financial commitment to the school and sign a "Statement of Commitment" to that effect. The written recommendation of the screening committee will then be forwarded to the chairpersons of both the Education and Finance Committees of the Board for their approval. The principal will be notified when these reviews are completed. The principal will make parental notification of acceptance or denial in a timely manner, normally within two weeks of submitting an application. In Christ’s service, Mr. Abe Vreeke, Principal |
