Athletic Opportunities

Basketball

Available in the winter for girls and boys in grades 4 through 8. In 2010 we had 27 victories from all of our teams, including a Junior High record of 16-10.  Our boys team won the 7th Grade Eagle Classic at Faith.  In 2011 we will have a record 7 different teams playing at LCS from grades 4-8, with around 100 games scheduled.

 Cross-Country

Available in the fall for boys and girls in grades 5 through 8. After a year as a running club in 2008, we had a full team for the 2009 season. We competed in several area meets.

Soccer sprint

Soccer

Available in the fall as a co-ed team for girls and boys in grades 5 through 8. In 2011 our soccer teams had a record of 5-3-2 to improve our career record to 17-5-5.  For the first time ever we had enough players to field a separate girls' team that defeated Tecumseh 10-0 and Frankfort 8-0.

Volleyball player

Volleyball

Available in the fall for girls in grades 4 through 8. In 2011 we had 3 teams that participated for LCS.  The 4th & 5th graders split into 2 elementary teams for some of the matches and finished with a combined record of 6-4.  Our junior high team consisted of 6th, 7th & 8th graders that showed tremendous improvement throughout the season and finished with 3 victories.

Track runner

Track

Available in the spring for girls and boys in grades 6 through 8. The team is a joint effort between Lafayette Christian School and St. James Lutheran School.

Annual All-school Track Meet

The first Friday in May, all 5th through 8th grade students participate in a track meet verses St. James Lutheran School. This activity is part of the physical education classes at LCS. Students participate in running and field events throughout the day at Lafayette Jefferson High School's track. Our 5th and 6th grade students compete as one team, and our 7th and 8th grade students compete as another team.  In 2011, for the second consecutive year, Lafayette Christian won the annual track meet versus St James at Lafayette Jefferson High School.  In the past 3 years our track team has broken 25 school records that are proudly displayed in our hall.

Field Day

Field Day

The Kindergarten through 4th grade students participate in a intraschool field day mid-May. All students participate in a variety of running, throwing, and jumping events. Our 7th grade students serve as event coordinators, helping the younger students understand the event and recording the students' scores.
