Before and After School Care Program
Lafayette Christian School offers a before and after school care program in partnership with the Greater Lafayette YMCA.
Before School Program (beginning at 6am at YMCA)
The general daily format for the before school program may be as follows:
15 minutes - sign-in, announcements, free time
30 minutes - academic enrichment/homework assistance
60 minutes - 2 programming sessions
15 minutes - clean up, walk to classrooms
After School Program (until 6pm at LCS)
The general daily format for the after school program may be as follows:
30 minutes - snack, sign-in, announcements
30 minutes – academic enrichment/homework assistance
60 minutes - 2 programming sessions
30 minutes - organized recreation
Programming Components:

Tutoring & Mentoring – tutoring, homework help and/or planned instruction

21st Century Skills – Project-based learning, collaborative problem-solving, media literacy

Service Learning – beautification, peer mentoring, food drives, public artwork projects

Leadership Development – leadership training, resistance skills

Arts Education – arts & crafts, dance, photography, music education

Health & Wellness – Nutrition education, team sports, intramural competition, health and fitness education, yoga

Global Learning – cultural celebrations using food, music arts, and more

Parent & Family Engagement – parent advisory councils, achievement celebrations, demonstrations, holiday & summer camps
In addition to the above activities, the YMCA offers children enrolled in the program the opportunity to swim at the YMCA. Every Friday, transportation is provided for two after school sites to come to the YMCA on a rotating basis. The children enrolled in this program are then able to swim at the YMCA and their parents pick them up there rather than at the usual after school site.

There is a 2nd child discount of $5 and financial assistance is also available.
Registration is $40 per child or $60 per family.
