Teacher Computer Initiative
This year (2020), Lafayette Christian School celebrates 70 years of forming students to excel academically, grow spiritually, and serve selflessly. Two years ago, we announced a four-year initiative to provide each student in third through eighth grade with a Chromebook for use in the classroom. Thanks to generous donations, we were able to complete this initiative in just two years!
Students are able to use their Chromebooks for lessons, projects, and research. The Chromebooks have also made state testing more efficient, since students can now complete the tests in their classroom. This allows multiple grades to test simultaneously, rather than requiring each grade to rotate through the school’s single computer lab. The Chromebooks stay at school, as they are a tool to enhance—not replace—textbooks and instruction.
Encouraged by the positive changes we have seen for our students with the introduction of the Chromebooks, we would now like to provide our teachers with new computers to help them more easily create and deliver instructional content. The computers our teachers are currently using are over a decade old, making them slow and frustrating to use with newer versions of the software our teachers rely on.
It is with that in mind that we are announcing our Teacher Computer Initiative. It will cost $17,000 to purchase new laptops for each of our teachers. We’ve already received $5,000, for which we are grateful. Will you help us meet our goal by giving? With 12 donations of $1,000, we would meet our goal and be able to provide our teachers with technology that will significantly enhance their ability to continue to provide our students with excellent instruction.
You may give by mailing a check to the school or online below.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
